Thank you for your interest in Civil Air Rescue Emergency Service (CARES), and in perhaps becoming a future member of CARES Niagara. Our Unit is a 100% volunteer organization and requires a significant time commitment and dedication from its membership, and as a potential member you must give serious consideration to your ability to attend, participate on a regular basis, and be available when called upon in an actual emergency.
We most certainly offer a challenging and rewarding position within our organization, to help others in their time of need. To accomplish this we need dedication, and training to the highest standards from each and every member. Our members come from many different backgrounds and experience levels.
If you are interested in joining, or perhaps discussing the aims, goals and objectives of our organization, please feel free to attend one of our regular training meetings generally held on Thursday nights. It is recommended that you contact us in advance to determine the schedule and times for the meeting that you wish to attend. Our headquarters is located at the Niagara District Airport in St. Catharines, and meetings normally begin at 1930 hours.
Members meet for a general member (business) meeting every third Thursday, from September to August at 1930 hours, at our headquarters which is located at the Niagara District Airport in St. Catharines. Attendance for these general member business meetings is expected of all members. Generally training meetings are conducted every Thursday night from the beginning of September until the end of August, the unit conducts member training at our headquarters located at the Niagara District Airport in St. Catharines.
The only exception to this would be the second Thursday of every other month with are typically reserved for Board of Director meetings. Please consult the current training schedule for exact information. Training is extremely important and all members are expected to attend as many training meetings as possible. Regular attendance, and participation in unit functions, is the single most important consideration in becoming a member.

All members must pay their dues of $25.00 no later than the September general meeting each year. The dues collected help pay for the administrative services, such as training materials and mailing out information as required each month. If dues are not paid accordingly, the individual is not considered a member of the Unit and therefore not eligible to participate in any functions.
